Bird S Coler a commissioner of charities moves to sue Louis Krohnberg for 1 650 000 under a statute allowing charity care custodians to sue alleged winners in games of chance for five times their winnings. The action targets Krohnberg the wealthy clothing manufacturer.
The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen will pause demands for a 40 percent wage increase while the railroad administration analyzes the wages and working conditions report. Acting president Timothy Shea, back from Washington, said a decision by Director-General Hines is expected late in the month.
Mrs O T L Smith died Thursday night at St Marys hospital Evansville after an operation for a long held ailment. She was active in M E church and W I M S treasurer. Funeral Friday at German church east of Fort Arminehb conducted by Rev Klutey.

The circuit court Friday terminated the action by Anna Hoffher against Melvin Beck Chas Boyer and Herschell Duckworth over a collision with an express wagon. The case was dismissed after the plaintiff’s attorney could not introduce liquor-possession evidence due to a legal rule. A new suit Wiram Silles vs Public Products Co was filed.
The D. F. C. Girls meet Monday at Miss Bess Shryock’s south Main street home, bring one yard of hair ribbon for the Indiana Methodist Children's Home. Friday a pretty card party at Miss Katherine Youngman’s hosted a three course dinner and eight tables of games with musical numbers and prizes. A birthday gathering honored Miss Sarah Camden at the Irving building with third grade pupils present, followed by refreshments. Mr and Mrs Harvey Kendrick entertained Y M W Club spouses at a seven o’clock oyster supper with contests won by several guests. Mrs J S Critchfield held a conference with class mothers on child welfare and early training, stressing breathing and imagination with tea from Miss Bertha in China Town. Local students listed as taking lessons from Mrs Critchfield include Nancy Biggs Ruth Shick Ida Jane Meyers Alice Marie Deweese Minrose Bailey Marevet Katherine Stormont Eloise Wetborn Dorothea Gilbert Elizabeth Watts Mildred Potter Virginia Knaub.
Trustee W. A. Dill announces Baldwin Heights school will hold Saturday sessions for the next five weeks to recover lost time. The plan aims to complete the academic schedule despite prior disruptions.
Walter Goyer drives two miles, carrying his nude unconscious wife to his father's home as flames engulf their rural farmhouse. Two children, Robert age 4 and Henry age 2, die. Kenneth age 9 is not expected to live. Mrs Goyer and Walter are seriously burned. Glen escaped unharmed. Fire believed caused by an explosion in the children's bedroom as the family slept.
Roy Noble, of the Noe Phimbing Co., was robbed Friday around 7 pm on South Hart Street near Princeton Steam Laundry. A shadowy man demanded "Wait a minute" and rifled Noble's pockets, making off with about $2. Police searched the area but the culprit vanished into darkness. Noble forgot his watch at home in the rush to the Colvin residence.
Boonville defeated Princeton 20 to 15 in a Friday basketball game as Boonville relied on fouls to win while Princeton scored seven goals. Two games are set for Saturday at the high school building Patoka versus Union and Owensville versus Princeton with a large crowd expected. The Indiana Appellate Court upheld a Vanderburgh Superior Court verdict awarding Levin Fields 1400 for injuries from a defective north Seminary street sidewalk.
Messrs Johnson and Koerner from the State Board of accounts finished a county review in Gibson for 1917 and 1918 and some offices for the past year. They stayed in Princeton several months quarters and left Saturday for their homes to rest Sunday before returning to headquarters. They made many friends while in Princeton.

Vincennes Ind Jan 17 Frank Cunningham 40 a Vandalia conductor died from electrocution when he tried to switch on a basement light Friday about 6 pm at his home in Bicknell Ind He was found on the cellar floor with feet in water and a seared mark on his right thumb His wife heard him cry out and neighbors were summoned Cunningham is survived by his wife and three children The light carried 110 volts.

Julius Gratz of Makemson Avenue fired a 22 revolver into the air to frighten a dog. The weapon discharged while reloading, the bullet entering his right ankle above the shoe top. A local surgeon removed the bullet from the heel.
