Paris January 7 Germany sent a note to the peace conference opposing an allied tribunal trial for the German officers who scuttled the fleet at Scarpa Flo. Berlin also resisted surrender of five light cruisers and denied selling marine materiel since November 1918.
Theodore Grubb, a smallpox patient, is detained at the City Health Office of O. T. Braselton. Dr Breselton is seeking volunteer caregivers as Grubb, recently ill with a facial breakout, is under quarantine after arriving from Evansville and visiting Mt Olympus and nearby areas.
The article warns bachelors in 1920 that February will have twenty nine days, including five Sundays and a Friday the thirteenth, creating a comical, ominous omen. It notes Sunday the twenty ninth and five Sabbaths force bachelors into public view, amid the century’s rare leap year coincidence.

Mexico City January 7 The estimated total dead from Saturday night’s earthquake reached about 2000 with 1000 killed in a Vera Cruz town wiped out when a hill collapsed into a river and inundated the area. Another city is reported nearly destroyed as debris is cleared.
In Columbus Ohio on January 7 the United Mine Workers ratified settlement terms by a vote of 1639 to 221. The meeting followed a stormy session as radicals opposed the plan. President Wilson's three man commission will set the wage basis for miners under the settlement.
George Lindenmaier a Southern railroad fireman suffered severe burns to his hands while trying to save his wife in Baldwin Heights on Tuesday night. A Christmas tree fire caused about 100 in interior damage as Mrs Lindenmaier escaped with minor burns and hair loss.
Merritt Mike Howe and Miss Hat Robinson wed October 25 in Evansville. The couple, now en route to Nowata Oklahoma, kept the ceremony secret until they were aboard a westbound Southern passenger train. The groom son of Mr and Mrs Robert Howe. the bride daughter of Mr and Mrs Ed Robinson of Princeton. This is the groom’s second marriage.
Committees of Gibson County Indiana University alumni met in the high school office to finalize plans for the annual banquet and meeting. The event celebrates the university centennial and will be held Friday January 28 in the First Methodist Church basement. trustee Frank Hatfield is expected to attend, with possible appearances by Miss Berry or Mr. Davis. Alumni and former students are urged to attend the January 23 celebration and meeting.
Washingtons federal good roads program, described by Agriculture Secretary David Houston, will continue through 1920. He notes state bond authorizations exceed 538 million and that at least one billion dollars will be available for road improvements in the current and next fiscal year, with rail transport and material supply as main limits.

The Indiana public service commission will hear Princeton Light and Power Company versus the City of Princeton on Tuesday January 90 at 10 a.m. in the city building. The plaintiff seeks authority to raise rates and the hearing is open to the public. Mayor Shubart urged holding it in Princeton to save the city travel costs.
DoJ officials issued a warrant for the deportation of Ludwitk A K Martens self titled soviet ambassador to the United States. The warrant targets Martens for service if he is located, with authorities pursuing him nationwide.
Report from Washington shows American forces in Germany sold horses and mules between November 21 and November 28 this year for a total of 103978 dollars. Average price roughly 140 dollars per animal. Some animals were unsalable.
