A Beleski v Beleski divorce suit from Knox County was heard Thursday in the Circuit Court before Judge Vandeveer. The case proceeded through formal pretrial steps with the judge presiding in Knox County.
President Wilson expected to appoint a successor to the late Justice Lamar. He may reshuffle cabinet members if unavoidable, with Lane and Garrigan among those potentially not considered. John W. Mack of the Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago is reported as a recommended candidate.
Reports say eight passengers died when the steamer Kanawha struck a pier on the Ohio River near Parkersburg West Virginia. The vessel carried 86 passengers and 46 crew at departure. survivors were brought ashore by a Baltimore and Ohio special train as crews searched the river. Captain Berry survived and said all aboard were saved.
