With 1915 starting, Gibson County installs three new county officials in the courthouse. All three are Democrats, described as competent gentlemen ready to serve. Circuit Court Judge Ss. L. Vandeveer begins his first six-year term.
An official notice says the battleship Formidable was sunk in the Channel, cause uncertain between mine or submarine. Seventy one survivors have been picked up, with others possibly missing. German submarine activity has been heavy in the area, and precautions have been taken to protect vessels.
Mr and Mrs Bouchie and Mr and Mrs Yeodore Bouchié hosted the Gibson Club at their home on 319 South Race Street. Guests enjoyed music and cards with refreshments served during the Thursday evening gathering.
Ten people were killed and about twenty seriously injured in a rear end collision on the Great Eastern Railway near London. The express train struck a local standing on the siding at Ipsford. Most of the dead were elderly or infirm passengers.
