Confession Made To Recent Robbery At Francisco
Lester Reel and Sherman Ludden confessed Sunday afternoon at the Princeton city jail that they entered the Francisco post office on December 24 and stole 3.54 in stamps along with items from the Witherspoon store. Police traced stamps to a Mt. Carmel buyer and connected Reel and Ludden after they fled on trains to Albion and were arrested by Mt. Carmel and post office inspectors. They were arraigned in Evansville before a United States Commissioner. Reel blamed peers for pressuring him to confess. Ludden, learning barber trade, had been in Princeton about two years.

Misidentification of missing priest Vraniak body
In Long Beach California on December 31 a body found hanging in a willow grove was initially thought to be Father Vraniak of Virden Illinois but two Virden acquaintances contradicted the identification. Collins insisted the body was Vraniak while Stevens said it was not. The man, about 50, neatly dressed, had been dead about a day. Vraniak had disappeared while visiting a town near Virden, and a $3,500 reward was offered for information.
