Plymouth Indiana December 31 Robert Osborne of near Ober Starke county a distant relative of Culver Exchange Bank cashier was taken into custody to be questioned in the Culver bank robbery. Jacob Laine a Culver merchant and posse leader was wounded in the jaw paralyzed below the third rib and listed as critical Jerome Zechiul was wounded in the hip with non serious condition both at Culver Military Academy Hospital
In Springfield Tennessee a lone bandit robbed Peoples Bank of 56000 in Liberty bonds during daylight. He was shot in a gun battle with the sheriff shortly after, and the bonds were recovered.
Three Limousine bandits killed Joseph Switzer a chauffeur and wounded his helper when they refused to assist in seizing a truck of whiskey bound for a Chicago drug firm for medicinal use.
Senate Republicans urged Senator Penrose of Pennsylvania to return to Washington if able the next day or two while recuperating in Atlantic City. Leadership gaps in both chambers prompt calls for his influence on tariff farm products legislation and finance committee matters.
Postmaster J. E. Turpin at Patoka resigns. Herbert Milburn named acting postmaster and will serve until a regular appointment is made after a classified Civil Service exam in Princeton on January 8 1921. Exam open to residents within jurisdiction. Turpin to enter old dylling business.
Senator Penrose of Pennsylvania, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, killed hopes for emergency tariff legislation for a soldier bonus bill at the current session. He returned to Washington and said the tariff and revenue questions must be considered together before any action.

In Cleveland on December 31 W T Sly president and George Saner vice president of the W W Sly Manufacturing company were shot and killed by five bandits on the street at noon. They fled with a payroll of 4500 dollars. The robbers used two cars and another vehicle collided with the victims’ car. After a brief parleys the bandits shot the men and escaped with the money.

Local social events include Miss Forthoffer hosting Miss Retta Jacquess with music and dancing at South Seminary street. Ann Arbor and other guests noted. A candy party on East Oak street features many attendees and prize winners. Nell Reeser marks tenth birthday with friends at North Embree street. A large euchre gathering on South Hart street features fourteen tables and Yule decorations. multiple out of town guests are listed plus a luncheon in the afternoon.
