Indianapolis December 81. Indiana public service officials plan a safety crossing push after a survey by David E Matthews shows 122 deaths and 214 injuries at steam railroad crossings in the state this year. A conference of railroad and interurban managers, automobilists, and local officials may form a committee to propose enacted safety measures.
The first ship exclusively built and manned by Jews since the Ark is launched at Jaffa Palestine. The vessel bears the name Hashaluz.
Washington authorities move to regulate wood alcohol like grain alcohol with high taxes and required permits. Commissioner Roper says current laws lack a legal basis to act against traffickers and calls wood alcohol a deadly poison needing strict controls.
The remains of Russel Eaton arrived from Akron Ohio and were taken to his mother Mrs Nancy Eaton at 210 East Oak Street. His wife and sister Mrs Lottie Blackmore of Terre Haute accompanied the body. Eaton died Sunday from a fractured skull after a fall at the Eagle's Home in Akron while on stairs. Coroner attributed death to the skull fracture. Funeral set for Thursday at 2 30 at Hatton home East Oak Street with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Fire early Tuesday morning destroyed the Mitchell school house three miles southeast of Francisco Indiana. The building was only partially insured and had not had a fire since last Wednesday leading to the belief an intruder sleeping inside started the blaze. Miss Grace Golden taught at the school. Mr and Mrs Walter Riggs and Miss Nell Emmerson returned home from Louisville after a week with friends.
William O. Jenkins American consular agent at Puebla is charged with supplying arms and ammunition to bandits tied to Cordova. Prosecutors say evidence shows Jenkins met the bandit leader in several towns during his alleged abduction, with shipments directed by Jenkins. He remains released on bail as the case develops.
