Thomas L. Carithers, farmer and truck driver near Princeton, files in circuit court to enjoin enforcement of a newly enacted city auto license ordinance. He claims the measure is not properly drawn, not approved by the mayor, vague in intent, and discriminatory in fees. Attorney: S. L. Vandeveer.
Oakland City December 30. C Schmuck resigns after long service as joint agent for the BE. J. T. H. and Southern railways in this city. Mr Sehminck was checked out Thursday and M. B Jackson, agent at Elberfeld for five years, was checked in to fill the position made vacant by resignations.
Nelson K. Todd, a special representative of the state board of tax commissioners for four years, resigns in Indianapolis to enter tax practice in Frayne. He traveled to every county of the state adjusting taxation matters as a recognized expert statutor.
Moorehouse parish residents awaited the arrest of 40 or more prominent citizens on murder charges as state agents were believed ready to act in the hooded-killer case from last August.
Cambridge Mass Dec 80 Dr H H Hunt of the University of Mississippi said Alleghany College graduates and their spouses totaling 632 had 72 children and only about 50 of those children might reach maturity according to life insurance statistics.
The Princeton Melody Men performed Friday evening at the Ft Branch high school under the Ft Branch American Legion post. Miss Nellie Young directed with Mrs Wat ter Stevens and Leslie Pierce as accompanists. The audience approved the program and encored nearly every number.
France remains hesitant on accepting the American plan for an international commission of business and financial experts to revise German reparations. The United States would join the commission as a representative. Washington reports say France delays while the United States and Britain press negotiations to force the issue amid Europe’s economic chaos.
In Chicago a gunman identified as John Reise accosted students returning from a dance. When the party did not respond, he opened fire. a policeman was killed and Reise, shot by officers, likely fatally wounded. Another student Winnie Finkelstein was shot in the hip.
A week of union prayer services will be observed by Princeton Protestant churches beginning Tuesday evening. The services will be union meetings with all pastors participating, each night at 7 o clock. Tuesday features First Methodist, Wednesday First Presbyterian, Thursday First Baptist, and Friday General Baptist.
Joseph W. Barton, longtime Prince ton figure and former Gil ISL County sheriff, died Friday evening at his home on Walnut Street from a heart attack after a long illness. He had suffered heart trouble for two years and remained active in the community despite their illness. Funeral plans were to be announced.

London dispatch says Edith Thompson and Frederick Bywaters will be hanged at 9 oclock Tuesday morning for the murder of Mrs Thompson s husband. The Home Secretary refused clemency petitions. Thompson, due to give birth early next year, would be Britain s first hanging of a woman in 15 years.
A crash on the New York Central tracks in South Bend Indiana killed three people. Louis Rubenstein a hotel clerk and two others named Gibney a taxi driver and Ruth Vanster died at the scene or en route to a hospital. The auto was demolished and the flywheel was found as the largest remaining fragment.
The Princeton public schools will reopen Tuesday morning for regular work after Christmas and New Year holidays. Examinations for the first semester run January 23 to 19 with a spring semester to begin January 22. Bible study courses will be offered in the high school with Rev. Nesbit and Rev. Marr teaching two classes.

Joseph W. Barton, aged 51, died after a recent health decline following his return from Ingansville with his wife and niece. He had been advised to rest for 60 days after Mayo Clinic tests in Rochester but resumed contracting work, suffering a fatal attack likely from exertion while driving home. He was born July 23, 1871 near Hazleton and married Minnie Blackburn January 24, 1864. his widow survives.

Polk county sheriff Wini fred Robb and his deputy brother Jorge Robb were arrested on larceny and illegal liquor distribution charges. The pair allegedly vanished thirty million dollars worth of liquor from the county jail, with coroner Clift issuing the custody. Rev Robb gained fame last spring for a controversial hanging trap.

Chancellor Cu no's government proposes a business plan for the allied premiers meeting in Paris Tuesday to obtain loans totaling 20 000 000 000 gold marks with a 1 percent rate. If granted Germany would pay the lump sum 40 000 000 000 gold marks to the Allies. Carl Bergman, who approached the Allies in London, travels to Paris to present the proposal in person.
James R Howard former president of the American farm bureau told the American economic association in Chicago that readjustment of prices to postwar conditions will solve agricultural problems. He argued farm product values must reflect crop ratios and rejected the idea that overproduction caused the current downturn.
