Congress moves to urge Paris to accept terms on war debt and submarine limits. Officials suggest France must choose between settling the entire debt now or agreeing to the conference proposed restraints.
United States legislators draft amendments to the war bill to compel France to pay interest and principal on its debt, arguing a payment would signal shifting U S opinion over French submarine policy and naval build up. Clause aims to pressure Paris while aiding lawmakers opposed to naval reductions and wary over the four power Pacific treaty.
Operators on the central field confront a possible clash over wages as miners prepare to challenge proposed cuts. Mitch of District 11 cites figures showing miners averaged 113 days worked this year with no near-term improvement in employment prospects. A preliminary meeting in Pittsburgh next Tuesday will set time and place for wage talks.

Lewis Kimmell a farmer east of Vincennes was shot in the face yesterday afternoon by two boys he had ordered off his farm following a claimed theft of a Christmas tree. One bullet hit his cheek and another his nose as officers investigate the incident.
Edward Stinson and Ticaud aboard the new airplane logged 26 hours 19 minutes 60 seconds, surpassing France’s 24 hour 19 minute 17 second mark. Stinson suffered frostbite to three fingers after a glove mishap, yet praised the recovery as he walked from the cabin.
The Washington committee agreed on a 10000 ton limit for cruisers aiming to curb naval arms race. France Italy and Japan sought government guidance while Britain urged immediate applicability to the five great powers. All poor children of the city will be given a Christmas treat at 8 o'clock tonight. The event, at the Salvation Army citadel located at 206 West State Street, invites all eligible children to attend and receive a treat.
