Attendance rose on Thursday at Princeton for a farm and community betterment meeting, despite poor Wednesday turnout due to weather. County Agent Marshall and the Chamber of Commerce led planning. merchants hosted a free dinner at the high school. The program featured Rev. W. P. Dearing, Rev. Clive McGuire, C. G. Bradley, J. C. Beavers, Maurice Douglas, Sept. F. Fisher, Z. M. Smith, Mrs. Julia Fried TM Walker, and speakers from Purdue and local organizations.
Indianapolis dispatch reports the Kentucky delegation pledging support to Edwin P. Morrow for president and Fairbanks in the Republican race. Charles Warren Fairbanks is highlighted among speakers as the party moves toward reunion.
An Austrian destroyer and a cruiser were blown up or sunk in the Adriatic during a naval engagement off Durazzo. The Austrian squadron bombarded Durazzo after leaving Cattaro and met an Allied force. the Littoral ship Lilte was blown by a mine and wrecked as enemy vessels fled.

Sister Florence Trout of Indiana praised Golden Fleece as the best ritualistic chapter visited, with four candidates initiated and a memorable banquet. A correspondent reports a government push to recruit in London failed to persuade workers and shoppers along the Strand near Charing Cross. A clerk, a purported India Office employee, a physically unfit man and a man claiming age over forty all refused, citing marriage, job risk, or health.
Unprecedented east bound freight congestion forces the New Haven to join the Pennsylvania system in a restricted embargo. The move targets clearing warehouses overflowing with shipments as 150,000 tons of freight await handling in New York and nearby yards. Fifteen more workers are added to the New Haven network across New York, Providence, and Bridgeport.
Berlin reports large bodies of Russian troops concentrated in southeastern Galicia and along the Bukowina frontier. Observers think the czar may plan a strike against Von Linsingen's Galician line and an invasion of Bukowina, with the German high command watching the movements closely.
