The court upholds the indictment charging Governor Len Small with embezzling state funds while treasurer. Verne Curtis, a Grant Park banker, also must face trial as the decision ends weeks of legal wrangling.
Waukegan Ill Dec 29 Governor Len Small will stand trial on charges of embezzlement of state funds and conspiracy. Verne Curtis co defendant will also go on trial January 9 in Lake County Circuit Court Judge Edwards ruled. The court upheld six count embezzlement indictment but threw out the joint conspiracy indictment in twelve counts and the thirteen count conspiracy claim.
The Knights of Columbus degree team from Princeton will confer first and second degrees at Haubstadt Council No. 2215 with 36 candidates. Major degree by Hon. C. A. Kidwell and staff from Washington. Banquet follows with speakers including Rev. M J Forve Rev John Hagramp and Hon Otto Kreuzberger. Music by French's orchestra. Attendance expected from Evansville Poskyville St James Snake Run and other lodges.
Paul A. Stockel remains in serious condition with a lingering fever as doctors report today. His wife plans to return to Princeton once she settles business affairs, and he has received letters from his wife and daughter.

Harold Reed Delchis Broadwell Oscar Chapman and James Leach, youths aged 10 to 14 from Princeton, were arrested in Mt Carmel on vagrancy charges. They were returned to Princeton this afternoon for investigation. Leach and Chapman have prior court history, with Leach at large on a truancy suspension. The boys rode a freight to Mt Carmel Wednesday and were found roaming the town before lockup. All described as incorrigible.
In Peru Indiana a sister named Margaret Pliteraft reveals details of a shocking murder. Joseph Flitcraft 40 a lawyer signed a confession admitting he killed his wife by beating her and stuffing her body into a secret vault at the home. police found a partly nude boy bound and wrapped in cloth near the scene. The confession led to a possible first degree murder charge with a grand jury to be convened.
Indiana Attorney General Lesh plans a state conference of prosecuting attorneys to launch a crackdown on law violators and officers who shield criminals. The meet aims to coordinate state and federal efforts, target liquor law breaches, and examine issues from police tips to price gouging. The date hinges on a Washington letter and may occur January 12 or February during an Anti Saloon League gathering and judges conference.
Mrs P L Counter was in the city Wednesday en route to her home in Francises after spending Christmas in Pawner IL with her mother Mrs R W North. The gathering was a family reunion of eight brothers and eight sisters, all present and enjoying a good time.

The Consolidated Oil Co reports a new well southeast of the Sullivan No 1 in the East Princeton field. After finalizing pump installation post shot, capacity will be known. Indications point to renewed spring activity and potential high output, with many wells adding to belief of a productive pool despite possible wildcatting before location or abandonment.

George Middleton twenty four, wanted on theft charges, was arrested at Boonville and returned here by Sheriff Fedvers. He previously worked at the Hitch meat market with Bryan Watkins and is accused of stealing clothing from Watkins. Middleton admits borrowing it and is held pending arraignment.
