Workers report busy days with Thursday night totaling 31 making surgical gauze strips. Over 100 six by three gauze strips daily, aiming for a January shipment box of 5600 six by two strips. Box includes bath robes operating gowns comfort pillows towels and surgical dressings. Shop open Saturday afternoon and night and Monday night. urged to push work on bath robes and operating gowns.
Director General McAdoo launches a government led plan to move freight without regard to lines. The railroad War Board organizes to pool equipment and speed trips to relieve congestion amid a blizzard and calls for curtailing passenger traffic. Congress debates how far McAdoo can go and notes railroads lack sufficient capacity.
Advertisement notes a year end dressings sale inviting ladies to attend Monday afternoon and evening events.
The War Department via State Agent Baltzell states no further deferral calls will occur before February 15. Boards will still draft under old rules to fill deficiencies, then apply the new classification to late order numbers within the present call.
