Japan formally protests the alien land laws of California and other western states. The Japanese ambassador conveyed the protest to the U S State Department, reacting to Supreme Court rulings upholding the laws while disputing the resulting situation.
In a National Security League Christmas message, former VP Thomas R. Marshall warns against mob justice citing the crucifixion of Christ. He argues the founders placed confidence in a calm tribunal to protect rights from passion and ignorance, opposing recall of judicial decisions by voters.
Floods from the White and Wabash rivers in southern Indiana have subsided. The state highway commission will raise two roads and reroute another to protect them: Road 34 north of Clinton, Road 4 near Lawrenceburg, and Road 12 north of Worthington.
Edward W. Bok received the $100000 American peace award plan from Elihu Root. The author will get $50000 now with name kept secret until a national referendum begins January 7. If approved, another $50000 is paid and the author’s name is released after the referendum by February 1.

Paris police received word Tuesday that Milo Duck, of Paris, had been identified as the thief of a car taken Sunday night from near the First Baptist church. Sheriff Hollen and Floyd Khan pursued to Paris where Duck was held to face charges. He is also wanted for check forging in Paris. The car was driven to Somerville before heading back to Paris.

Mike Fair Wilmer McGowan Raymond Shine and S C Carnahan of Ft Branch were fined 1 and costs in Police court on intoxication charges. Commodore Foster Oakland City man was fined 50 and costs for carrying concealed weapons. Homer Manuel 30 colored was fined 5 and costs on intoxication and liquor violations. he faced six months on the penal farm. Officers found 30 small home brew bottles and a mule at Manuel’s home after a wife’s call.
Indianapolis. December 26. John Shaw, the man convicted of murdering Mrs. Helen Welchel, will be formally sentenced to death on Saturday by Judge Collins.
Mr. and Mrs. Alva Gourley hosted a Christmas dinner Tuesday at 204 North Smith Street with relatives and friends including Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coomer and families Mrs. Alva Shanks and family and others. Nearly one thousand local children from Princeton and surrounding areas attended a Christmas treat hosted by the Princeton lodge of Elks. Girls, boys, and colored children enjoyed the same mov ing picture and treats of oranges and candy in a friendly parade from the Elks Home to the Grand theatre. C W Benton led the singing of America on cornet while Roy King conducted the chorus. Claude Smith gave brief talks to each division. Orphans arrived by auto as nearby automobiles and trucks ferried attendees to the event.
Elva Geiselman, a local blacksmith, faced arrest after Miss May Wilson, a Patoka teacher visiting Princeton, accused him of stealing her suitcase. The pair had been dating. he allegedly hid the bag delaying her St. Louis train. The suitcase was recovered, Miss Wilson urged release, and the mayor and police granted it with no charges filed.
Government reports say federal troops hold the insurgents in check on multiple fronts. Rebels captured at Puebla or driven from the city by Obregon's forces are given 15 days to return to the government, after which they will be released if they comply.
