Gibson County Red Cross praises volunteers for their Christmas drive effort and successful membership campaign. Rollin Maxam notes the campaign has closed and thanks the workers for their response in Gibson County.
Indiana reports Gibson county and Princeton area donors drive Red Cross memberships above 600000 with over 200000 more expected. Churches and firms pledge 100 percent participation, including First M E Church Princeton which nearly topped its goal. Campaign notes rapid Christmas rush and broad community support.
Secretary Baker sends Christmas wishes to U S forces and allies. He says the nation seeks permanent peace and directs efforts toward ending the war.
Reported thefts of packages and groceries from wagons and buggies occurred Saturday afternoon and evening. Police believe crew involvement will lead to arrests. Hitch racks and wagon yards were visited and valuables taken.
A Christmas service will be held at the First Presbyterian church on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock with a sermon by the pastor the Rev E G Hildner. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Captain Schwarr thanks donors and notes the community support will brighten many homes tomorrow.

He noted efforts to knock Italy from the war and test the western front while urging continued American wartime preparations.Officials observed a Brest meeting signaling a push toward a separate peace with Russia for Allied leverage.

The A L Maxwell Auto Co distributed seven hundred dollars among employees at the Princeton and Oakland City branches as a Christmas profit sharing gift for the year. Each employee received a proportional share plus a start toward saving thrift stamps. The presentation was well received.
Paris dispatch reports Foreign Minister Trotsky outlining Bolshevik aims for a free peoples peace. He told Ambassador Noulens that if Germany rejects this concept, no deal will be signed. Trotsky warned that a revolution could follow any potential peace, and warned that overthrow of the Bolsheviks could trigger chaos in Russia.
Captain Rumer instructed all members to report for medical exams to Dr. J. B. Critchfield or to the I O O F Hall tonight. Examinations run until 8 o'clock Tuesday. Rolls remain open with goal of enrolling 100. current strength 75 as recruiting continues ahead of the mustering officer’s arrival.
Mr and Mrs Earl M Miller hosted a Sunday dinner for about fifteen relatives in West Pine Street in honor of Daniel A Miller of Camp Taylor. Guests included Mrs B Z Wright and her son Bert Jr of Pekin Illinois.
