In Princeton the evangelist Dr Bulgin declares Christians should burn Christian Science literature after believers protest his portrayal of their faith. He shifts from urging reading to urging believers to avoid Christian Science writings. Tonight he discusses the Bible story Friendship of David and Jonathan as part of an evangelistic campaign.
A Christmas tree lighting program will be held Thursday at 6 45 pm in front of the Elka tree. School children, under Miss Isabel Mossman, will meet at the courthouse then march to the tree site. The event includes a chorus singing America and Joy to the World, a short address by Rev B E G Hildner, a benediction by Rev L T Freelard, and the tree lights. The program is designed to be brief not exceeding ten minutes and the public is invited to attend. lights stay on each evening through New Year.
United Press reports the British House of Commons approved a bill to enlist 1,000,000 more men, creating an army about four million strong. The government aims for rapid victories to end the war within a year. Berlin says British troops are being withdrawn from the Dardanelles and sent to Salonika.
Condition of Dr R Leo Anderson worsened Tuesday night and by this afternoon is at the point of death. Physicians fear the end may come within hours as his health rapidly declined.
Berlin December 22 The German Emperor William is ill and cannot make his planned visit to the western front. An official statement says a slight inflammation of the cellular system has confined him indoors.
New York December 22. Captain Von Papen, German military attaché, sails for Europe after government demands for his recall. He thanks those who kept friendly feeling from wartime hatred and says no effort will force Germany into conflict with the United States.
