Adolph Germmer, on trial in Chicago, avoids answering if he believed he should have supported the war. He admits distributing pamphlets denouncing the war and denies urging men to avoid registration, and denies involvement in any draft-defeating scheme.
Judge George W. Ward appointed to the Patoka river ditch case involving 600000 advised Clerk Edward H. Scales he cannot begin Jan 6 1919. He asks the governor be notified and a new judge be appointed. Over 2000 interested parties face potential summons and a monthlong trial.
Secretary of the Navy Daniels told builders that work on some destroyers may be halted and a new type of destroyer could be undertaken later. He stressed there is no plan to reduce the total number required for the war effort.

Pete Fine was seriously injured yesterday when coal fell while he was wiring a shot in the mine. His legs were crushed and he was moved to his home in the coal mine row where he is resting as well.
