Professional Crook Shot During Dental Office Burglary
P A Stockel a 42 year old New York man was shot twice by Dr J Cunningham during an attempted burglary at a dental office on a morning raid. Stockel who registered under an alias at Hotel Kidd and carried notebooks porcelain teeth and gold fillings was restrained then taken to hospital where his prognosis was very poor. Police traced Stockel to New York and found letters and notes suggesting a pattern of planned break ins across cities. He claimed to be a jewelry salesman and sought cocaine to ease toothache but investigators doubt his story.
