In November 1923, 1040 Southern Railway employees in Princeton were paid 121500, about half the district payroll. Materials for repairs totaled 65000. Average wage about 11682 per employee. lowest earners around 70 monthly.
Miss Florence Venn of the Indiana state library says only fourteen counties in the state maintain county libraries. Residents in those areas can borrow books from the state library, while others rely on towns and cities. Last year the state loaned books to 29,900 people, mainly reference works.
Chicago December 17 Reinstated by the new executive committee John Cloverdale resumes office as secretary treasurer of the American Farm Bureau Federation. He is also seated on the board of directors after being ousted last Saturday in a factional dispute.
Clarence Hardiman aged 52 colored died Saturday at 1 pm at his home near Cunningham ferry from dropsy. Funeral service set for Tuesday at 11 am at his home with several sons and daughters attending, burial in Pateka cemetery.

London December 17 1924 Oliver Baldwin son of Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin emerges as a Labor ally in a likely Labour win led by Ramsay MacDonald The 22 year old supports Labour on platforms and street corners and after the Baldwin government falls may receive an office under MacDonald an ambitious student of social issues.
Thomas Hill confessed to Sheriff Burns that he threw a coal oil soaked comfort into the bedroom of Frank Willis and Thirza Blaize Willis six miles west of Petersburg. Jealousy drove Hill who had courted Thirza Blaize for years. Willis and his wife escaped serious harm with burns to hands and arms.
Forecast shows fair conditions tonight and Tuesday with moderate temperatures. Friday's high reaches 52 degrees, last year’s peak 44 degrees, and a low around 30. Monday morning at 6 am records 31 degrees with sunset at 4 32 and sunrise Tuesday at 7 05.
Evansville man Bert Bell was jailed Saturday night after deputies found 13 half pint and two pint bottles of mule liquor near a spot west of Owensville. Bell is accused of transporting liquor between Princeton and Evansville. He was to be arraigned Tuesday evening before Justice of Peace Striker at 7:30.
The First Baptist church ends a three week revival led by Evangelists Hoskins and Fleming. They preached 22 regular services, 10 afternoon meetings, three Sunday school sessions and spoke at 40 church events. About 26 sought public confession, and many more prayed for guidance. The campaign boosted church activity and left a positive, lasting impression.
Traffic on the Hazleton bridge Sunday was heavy as motorists ignored rules. A continual jam formed on the bridge and both approaches due to attempts to turn around, violating state law. Dozens of cars became stuck in mud and horses were used to pull vehicles free.
