A high school boy, Simon Stevens, won first prize for a single ear of corn in the Yellow Corn Sweepstakes at the Gibson County Show, competing against professionals. Visitors declared the exhibit of high standard.

Gibson County corn show honors awarded with Simon Stevens winning for nearest perfect ear in yellow variety. Jack Bilderback tops professional class with yellow corn as strongest exhibitor. Event praised. 107 entries across professional amateur and youth divisions. Judges used elimination to crown champions and compare across varieties.

Pittsburg Kansas December 17 federal authorities plan deportation actions against alien women leaders of the Amazon army and other radicals in the Kansas coal fields. Investigators and the district attorney arrived to start deportation proceedings likely after arresting about sixty persons tied to mine field outlawry including rioting and bootlegging. Three women were arrested from families with children.
The chorus directed by Miss Irene Coolidge will sing the Christmas cantata The Story of Bethlehem at the regular Sunday evening service. The public is invited to attend as the cantata is noted as a beautiful highlight in Christmas music after weeks of preparation.
Farmers institutes the first form of agricultural extension work in Indiana opened November 15 with meetings in the south. Purdue reports 437 institutes scheduled this year, 108 in December 194, 135 in February, excluding Starke. A staff of 81 farm men and women and 14 Purdue staff members will speak.
Robertus Reneer came home from Danville, Illinois, after assisting James C. Thomas at the Solchers Home for treatment. Mr. Thomas, born in Pike County West Union, is a Spanish-American War veteran and former government military clerk. He served in the Philippines as a Spanish interpreter and has suffered a paralytic stroke four years ago, leaving him in frail health as many friends hope for recovery.
The Princeton local union of the United Mine Workers offered a reward of $100 for the arrest and conviction of the murderer of Ray Swain, a member. The action was taken at the union’s regular meeting on Thursday evening.
This evening at 8 o clock a musical program by local talent opens the Salvation Army Citadel dedication with Col. Fletcher Agnew and Brigadier Wiseman of Chicago present. Col. Agnew will deliver the address Rev Wade presides. French's Orchestra provides music and pastors are invited. The Sunday service at 3 p m marks the formal dedication with a special program. The meetings will continue at the new building to aid Princeton residents.
Conferences in Oakland City between Southern railway officials and Big Four executives discuss Big Four access to Southern tracks between Oakland City and Francisco to reach a new coal field.
