National educational efforts to teach the public to use cheaper cuts of meat were urged. William Wilson, president of the meat packers association, said he would attend a price conference called by Gov. Lowden, with Attorney General Palmer expected to join on arrival.
The land case on coal properties in Warrick county before Special Judge Robinson was adjourned until Monday of next week. Judge Vandeever resumed hearings Tuesday on the John R. Ford drainage case from Washington township.
D Frederick Albert Cook, Arctic explorer and oil man, outlines a six-plane aerial dash to the North Pole for next summer. He will fly from Texas oil properties to Fort Worth then proceed toward the pole, establishing a communications line at 800 miles out and launching fuel drops in April before a July or August departure.
The railroad administration and four brotherhoods of train and engine men announced that time and a half overtime will take effect December 1 on slow freight service. Arbitraries between terminals are eliminated while switching allowances at initial terminals stay, and final terminal delays are preserved at former rates if the work occurs before overtime.
R S Ticbener reports three more new Springfield rifles arrived for the Princeton rifle club. The club now has seven Springfield arms, with plans to equip all members by spring. The current range pit fills with water when it rains, hindering winter shooting, but a new drainable site near the city is located.
In Indianapolis on December 16 District Judge A B Anderson continued contempt of court charges against mine workers officials. The cases may be called up at any time by either side. Alexander Howitt president of the Kansas union and radical leader faces continued proceedings next Monday on charges of keeping miners on strike. The union had defied a United States injunction as 400000 miners were called out. Reports say miners returned to work fully and production is returning to normal.
Harry S. New, who claims kin to Senator Harry S. New, goes on trial in Los Angeles for the murder of his 18 year old sweetheart Freda Messer. The case centers on an alleged abortion related act on July 4. The state seeks a verdict of homicide. defense argues insanity. One hundred jurors are summoned, with many women to hear the case.

St. Louis continued as a liquor oasis after a supreme court ruling. Wholesale and retail stock were drained as autos and wheelbarrows moved alcohol away. Caravans from dry regions entered the city and dealers reported sold-out stocks while retailers sold every kind of drink and prices rose.
Arthur Brown and his sister Mrs Ot Honis have returned from New York City where he sought specialist treatment. He is much improved and believes he will not be a victim of further sickness. Friends express happiness at his recovery and join in hoping for total health.
Mr and Mrs Robert Terhune will depart Tuesday for Little Rock and other Arkansas points for a family visit. Mr Terhune works as a caller at the Southern shops and is taking his vacation.
Miss Ruth Kimrmaman of Oakland City has returned home a fully recovered patient after a successful tonsil removal operation at Methodist Hospital. The procedure was performed by Dr. A. H. Rhodes.
James H. Armstrong, county auditor, leaves tonight for Indianapolis to join the county auditors association meeting set for Wednesday at the Claypool hotel.
The Chicago statistical bureau reports the average Chicago family spent most on liquor during the past year among 30 cities. Also listed are expenditures for labor organizations church work movies personal and poll taxes with Seattle at 3.13 and New Orleans at 3 cents for books.
Wabash College professors presented a petition to the board of trustees arguing faculty salaries rose only twenty percent in five years while living costs climbed about one hundred percent. The board met to decide on possible increases from the current average of 2500 to 3500 or 4000, with signers including Rolie W. Brown and Edgar Chapman among others.
Paris reports the German attitude toward the peace protocol raises danger of renewed hostilities. The German reply to the note demanding signing of the treaty has been described as most conciliatory.
Lillian Hansen a 14 year old girl in New York admitted inventing a Jack the Ripper story to explain why she cut her hair short. She said she did it so Harold Arnold 16 would not think she was too childish to go to the movies.

London reports optimism that peace may be concluded by Christmas as the supreme council reviews Germany’s reply to the allied note demanding a signed protocol. American Ambassador Wallace attends the council meeting amid ongoing sessions and a schedule to address fines later tonight.
Telegrams from Indianapolis report nine mine operators in Alabama Tennessee and Kentucky refused to let miners return to work unless they renounce the United Mine Workers. The case is to be reviewed by the government. Acting President John L Lewis and Secretary Green returned from a conference of the American Federation of Labor in Washington.
Vincent Eisi, a barber, feloniously assaulted Harry Dresher after a vertigo incident. Dresher was seriously injured and not expected to live. Eisi was arrested on the charge of felonious assault.
Vancouver report says the Philippine Islands are going dry and Japan will follow, according to Dr Langrier a prohibitionist who arrived from Japan today.
Henry Pickmiller aged 7 years died at his home in Bicknell Tuesday morning after years of a paralyzing stroke. He was a well known business man in the community.
Ruby Kell three died at home on Stormont Avenue after pneumonia and spinal trouble. She was ill three days before death. Funeral held Wednesday at nine at the home with Rev Horace Sprague officiating. interment in Providence Cemetery.
