In a swift caucus of the Republican majority, Claude A. Smith of Princeton was chosen unanimously to serve as speaker for the General Assembly’s special session called by Governor McCray at 10 o clock to consider the reformatory relocation bill. Miltenberger withdrew, leaving Smith as the sole announced candidate. The session aims to pass the reform measure with potential rule suspensions discussed to ensure a one day session.
Mabel Bilderback aged 14 died this morning at 4 o'clock at the home of her mother Mrs. E. A. Stoops 1019 Sterman Street. Funeral Friday at 10 from the Stoops residence. Burial in Fellows cemetery. Survivors include Mrs. Stoops four sisters Mrs. Ernest Green Mrs. James Gorley Elzona Evelyn and two brothers Alonzo and Clarence all of this city.
The post office reports the Christmas rush has started early this year and urges sending packages promptly. Early mailing reduces congestion, ensures delivery before Christmas, and helps overworked postal workers manage the rush efficiently.
Two 10 year old boys Buford Angie of South Seminary street and Haskell Simonds of Wood street are said to have taken caps from the Gleak room of the library Sunday afternoon. Caps recovered and held at the police station for owners. Librarian reports similar thefts and police plan further investigation.
United Press reports that heaven inmates fought their way to freedom last night and the escape was not discovered until today.

Gibson County Medical Society met in the hospital basement with near full attendance. Dr George F Paul from the Rockefeller Foundation spoke on an all-time County Health Officer and Dr S J Arthur cited costs of the diphtheria epidemic. The society unanimously endorsed an all-time county health officer as saving money and improving sanitation, with officers re-elected for the coming year. Next meeting in January will feature Dr Stygall of the State Anti Tuberculosis Association.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange known as the egg and butter board was shut by a restraining order issued by Judge Rush. Barney Kaufmann, a commission merchant, filed suit alleging the board controlled the market and set prices, blocking eggs from being offered until they had been in average circulation for thirty days. Chicago egg prices await court decision.
National guard mobilizes to counter the Amazon army as 3000 miners’ wives daughters and sisters march in southern Kansas. Women force miners from pits vow to not work until ordered by their leader. Col McClean censors troop details while Pittsburg awaits actions.
A UPI report from Franklin Kansas dated December 14 describes about 30,000 women mobilizing from Franklin at dawn to invade Crawford and Cherokee counties. The march aims to close remaining coal mines and push toward Scammon, with workers’ families joining the action and plans to overwhelm mines near the Oklahoma line.
