Pacific Powers Sign Pacific Treaty Ends Anglo Japanese Alliance
Washington December 18 four great powers signed a treaty scrapping the Anglo Japanese alliance and pledging pacific peace. Secretary of State Hughes led the U S delegation with British, French, and Japanese representatives signing to respect each others Pacific possessions and ten year terms with mutual resignation rights.

Judge Attacked by Ex Police Chief in Boonville
Former Boonville police chief John L. Vincent was convicted of compounding a misdemeanor. On the public square he struck Judge Marshal K R Tweedy after a heated talk, vowing never to speak again. Bank Robber Is Taken to Prison

Demented prisoner dies in county jail fire at Tipton
In Tipton Indiana on December 13 a fire in the county jail killed Clyde Miller a demented inmate and left Watlin Smithson near suffocation. The sheriff found Miller’s charred body as smoke filled the cell block and the origin of the blaze remains unknown with another inmate in critical condition.

Women Drive Miners From Kansas Mines
In Girard Kansas on December 13 192? women and daughters of striking miners rallied with an American flag and attacked Jackson Walker mines No 1 forcing 300 to 400 workers to flee. They used fists bricks and pepper boxes while husbands and other relatives watched for fear of retaliation. Sheriff Gould said he could not stop the assaults.

A rural Detroit fire destroyed a home, killing seven children ages one to ten and possibly the father.
