Immense dual oil pipe lines rise in Gibson county area
Hundreds of men from Illinois Pipe Line and Indian Refining Co. push 16 inch pipelines across Gibson county from near Cunningham Ferry to Pike county and southeast toward Bowling Green. Illinois pipe line camps near Francisco with 150 to 200 workers. Indian Refining with 300 plus workers operating three camps near Patoka Douglas Station and a future camp near the poor farm. A new pumping plant ten acres purchased for a station near the poor farm will handle about 11 000 barrels daily with a 35 by 70 foot main building, steel and concrete, plus three storage tanks and worker residences. Work on both lines progresses with moving camps and heavy machinery.
