A second smallpox case in Princeton prompts health authorities to warn the public. Dr O T Braselton, under quarantine, has a mild case and may have spread the illness during home visits. Physicians urge vaccination for all nonimmune individuals to prevent contagion as warm weather raises transmission risk.
Professor Dearing of Oakland City College Miss Ruth Maxam and William Weese Gibson county fuel administrator depart tonight for Indianapolis to join a state defense council war conference. Vice President Marshall and Congressman Medill McCormick head a list of personal reputation speakers. Louisa Marine Band of 312 pieces stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Station will visit. Conferences run Thursday morning through Friday. More Gibson county residents may attend.
The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is fully frozen for the first time in years, allowing teams to be driven across the ice due to sufficient thickness. Local residents note the unusual winter condition and reuse of the ice route.

The Gibson conscription board will mail questionnaires to all registered men not in active service, about 115 per day starting Saturday. Men have seven days to reply, excluding Sundays and holidays. Attorneys and laymen will aid registrants, and boards may reclassify respondents. A list shows 26 requests for voluntary enlistment to be acted on by Saturday.
Wallace Kemp, former Southern station agent, now in second officers training at Ft. Harrison, is transferred to San Antonio Texas for three months of aviation corps officer training. He has visited his parents in Winslow and will report in San Antonio on Saturday December 15.

Arnold Clark attended the funeral in Vanaville for Edward Attwood a fireman on the Erie railroad who was killed when his engine overturned in a snow drift on Saturday. Attwood died instantly and the service took place Wednesday.
