A fire in Goshen Indiana destroyed the News-Times plant and the Hines Book Store housed in the same building. Total estimated loss reached 54000 with the newspaper suffering 35000 in damage and 32800 insured. Fire officials faced dense smoke initially preventing access to the flames.
