Deaths of Emanuel Burkhart and Mrs. Elzina Beard in Pike County
Emanuel Burkhart a 69 year old retired farmer died suddenly at his Oakland home after a stroke. Funeral services are set for Thursday at the Presbyterian church with burial in Montgomery cemetery. He leaves a widow two daughters Mrs John Cherry and Pearl Burkhart and two sons Will and Elwood Burkhart. Mrs Elzina Beard aged 69 years 9 months and 27 days died November 28 at her Ft Branch home after a brief illness. Her funeral was held at Littles church in Pike county with burial in Martin cemetery. She is survived by husband Hugh five daughters Mrs Susan Cannon Mrs Lucy Lane Mrs Mat Hughes Mrs Maude Jerrell and Mrs Vina Fettinger one son Cleveland Beard a sister and a brother and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Beard family formerly lived in Pike county later moving to Ft Branch.

Boy Hurtled From Wagon After Auto Collision Near Hart
A boy riding on a wagon pulled by a horse was thrown off when a car driven by G B English of Fr. Branch struck the wagon on west State street near Hart Tuesday afternoon. The 13 year old, son of Mrs. Minnie Handley of Baldwin Heights, was taken to the Methodist hospital where he was found uninjured. English said he could not see the wagon due to headlights from an approaching car. The car sustained little damage while the wagon incurred some damage.
