The army regulations set truck and motor vehicle speed limits from 14 to 18 miles per hour, prompting towns to revise signs and enforce laws. Police and residents watch for violators as officials aim to curb speeding along streets.
President Wilson will begin a national tour on September 3 with stops in Columbus Ohio and Indianapolis to advocate the peace treaty and League of Nations. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Wilson Admiral Grayson Secretary Tumulty and other officials while a large Secret Service force guards the trip.
Berlin reports Gen. Von Hindenburg chosen as the National People's party candidate for the next presidential election. No election date is set. the president would serve seven years per the constitution.
The Democrat will be taken from the press early Monday morning Labor Day and Tuesday morning Soldiers and Sailors Home Coming Day. All copy for business announcement changes must be in the office by 6 o'clock Saturday afternoon for Monday's issue and 8 30 o'clock Tuesday morning for Tuesday's issue.
The Princeton and Evansville traction line announces hourly service between Princeton and Evansville until further notice. The Princeton schedule starts 6 15 A M with hourly runs to 8 42 P M. Evansville departures begin 8 30 A M with hourly cars to 9 20 and 11 15 P M, with select morning and evening cars bound for Princeton only.

Realization by farmers that the government is serious in the drive on supplies sparked a price decline and broad sympathy lowering of foodstuffs. Fourteen thousand cattle and 10,000 hogs were held over at Chicago yards as buyers faced reduced demand. Packers attributed the hog price drop to the dollar decline and a cattle influx reducing availability. In three days 281 cars of live stock arrived, with 914 cars for all of last week. Corn fell two cents a bushel as grain and other products declined.
