Trustees of the Coliseum board held a meeting in Princeton to hear site proposals for a new building and discuss funding options. Citizens urged options on several sites while the board planned to secure site options and await council action on city assistance.
Several hundred women in Terre Haute Indiana met to investigate the cost of living and set their own prices for producers. They will publish a price list if current rates are deemed high and may boycott food if necessary, in alignment with a city food administration plan.
President Wilson will begin a national speaking tour within two weeks, with a Pacific coast to southern states route spanning about 45 days if he remains able. About twenty assistants work on final dates and itinerary, which requires no Senate action. A possible September 8 or 9 meeting with General Pershing and a September 16 First Division review may be adjusted.
Senator Lenroot of Wisconsin proposes a wholesale railroad reorganization through a new corporation owned and operated by an 11 member board chosen by the president. Earnings would restore stocks gradually while bonds stay intact. The bill sets varied board representation including workers farmers and security holders, with labor a voice in improvements and wages.
W. M. Baird of the Southern Association of Bell Telephone Employes aided Princeton workers as they organized a local unit of 16 000 Southern Tel and Cumberland Companies employees. Officers elected: President F. W. Pumphrey, Secretary Treasurer Hazel Sisson. The group seeks to handle collective matters through conference and advance social welfare while serving public interest.
The Baptist Young People's Association meets at First Baptist Church tomorrow from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM with the theme World Wide Christian Conquest. In 1918 Indiana granted 1816 divorces to wives due to cruelty by husbands. State statistics report 845 husbands relieved, 279 wives unbinding on drunkenness, 544 wives freed for nonsupport, 765 abandonment cases favoring wives. Total licenses issued 29,824. total divorces 5,573 with 219 suits filed and 2,709 dismissed or denied. Wives obtained 3922 decrees while 1640 men were denied.
British business leaders propose a universal currency for aviation based on the metric system to reduce losses from currency value differences. A London bank draft for a pilot en route to Lisbon illustrates exchange issues and a plan to issue a league currency backed by nations.

Harlen Merrick, longest connected with the Southern railway station since March, resigns his agent post at the first of the week. John A. Wood will succeed him, having filled the night job for four months. Merrick and wife plan a vacation then return to Princeton to resume work with the Southern in some capacity.
In the C. S. Scull furniture store window displays three large pictures given to Lowell school by the 1919 class. The pictures are handsome with a hand painted one valued at nearly $100, illustrating the class’s graduation.
Gibson County invites more than a thousand World War I veterans to a free barbecue at the Fair Grounds on Tuesday September 2 1919. The committee urges every former service member to attend in uniform or civilian dress and asks townsfolk to help locate any missing names or transport to ensure all can join the day of welcome.
New Harmony hosts a Thursday meeting of the women’s committee to finalize the deed for the Fauntleroy home cradle of America’s first women’s club. Miss Mary Fauntleroy will sign the deed in trust as inventory of relics and land rights is completed. Jeaner Runcie, guest and heir, attends, adding interest to the transfer toward the State Federation of Clubs.
