Jester Kolb the Patoka baseball pitcher suffered a broken right leg just above the ankle in a Sunday scuffle with J. E. Turpin Patoka team manager. He was attended by Princeton physicians and Turpin regrets the accident.
Judge W. D. Robinson of Evansville was involved in a Sunday wreck on the Owensville road when his car overturned into a ditch. He escaped injury along with his dog. the incident occurred near the same spot where Editor J C Gorman recently overturned his vehicle.
Early edition of the Democrat will be issued at noon Wednesday to allow employees to attend the rally and hear Governor Cox. Advertisers and news items for Wednesday should be sent in as early as possible.

At 11:15 a.m. arrival in Princeton precedes a 2:00 p.m. speech at the Fair Grounds. A parade review follows before 4:00 p.m. departure for Evaneville with time in between for reception and nominee review.
Governor James M. Cox arrives in town Wednesday for the First district rally. He will review a parade from a stand on Main Street near Walnut, speak at the fair grounds at 2 p.m., then depart by 4 p.m. for Evansville.
The Evansville booster train arrived at 9 30 this morning bringing about 200 chamber members touring for the Evansville exposition October 4 to 16. About 150 Princeton business and professional men met on the public square and escorted the boosters to the court house steps where welcome remarks were given.
A Sunday afternoon collision on the state road just north of Ft Branch involved an automobile driven by Edward Speck of Littles. Speck escaped injury though his car was damaged. the owner of the other vehicle could not be learned from the report.
Dayton Ohio August 23 Governor James M Cox says funds and quota for Republican campaign districts are being raised to ensure a Harding victory. He asserts a 16 million dollar war chest exists while welcoming a Senate campaign committee inquiry. Senator Read of Missouri wired the governor seeking full data for a thorough investigation.
The Winslow coal mine resumed operations today after miners agreed to return pending a wage dispute settlement at a Terre Haute meeting. A Winslow miner spoke of delays and skepticism from repeated promises. Vice-President William Rainey reported unanimous local votes to restart though Ayshire No 4 remained idle and Nos 6 and another were shut due to shortages and repairs.
The Princeton Hoosiers beat a Mt Carmel Braves lineup 18 to 3 at Coal Mine Park on Sunday in a game tagged as a misbooking. Manager Fisher regrets the arrangement saying he would have paid to avoid the matchup after Mt Carmel’s Frank Waibler clarified the opponent’s true status.
German workers in Danzig have proclaimed a Soviet government and announced a blockade of Poland. A French cruiser was reportedly not allowed to dock in the port.
Mt. Carmel residents Wilma L Benner and Daisy Hien Belcher wedlock aims announced with Ollie Goodson of Lyles Station and John Dunlap of Gibson County in two marriage notices.
A garbled notice indicates no cars will be allowed to park on South Main Street from the railroad to Spruce Street on August 25, per the Chief of Police. The fragment references a traffic control action and street restrictions.
Governor Cox, in Dayton after arriving from Columbus, challenges Hays to disclose how funds were divided into club divisions and per district quotas. Patoka Indiana defeats Handlestadt 2 to 1 in ten innings after a pitching battle. Patoka scores in the third and tenth, Haubstadt earns a sixth and final run. Notary and Gibbs pitch for Haubstadt and Patoka respectively. Heitzman catches for Haubstadt end Witherspoon for Patoka.
Dempsey and Carpentier, both heavyweight champions, will meet in New York in November or December. Manager Jack Kearns confirms the plan as negotiations proceed for the world title clash.
Longtime coal mine matron known as Mother Turber moves to live with daughter Mrs. Anna Maule Schildroth at 424 South Seminary Street aged 72. She cared for hundreds of miners, never turning one away for nonpayment, and aided during accidents, strikes, and hardship, earning the affectionate title among the town’s workers.
The Gibson County teachers institute opened this morning in the high school assembly room with 8 large attendance teachers. It will run all week until Friday noon. Principal speakers include F. C. Tilden of DePauw University and T. E. Johnson of Lansing Michigan. Sessions cover literature in education, life, history, poetry, reading, and educational tests. Public invited to attend.
The Cox rally day committee announced that it will be impossible to deliver reserved seat tickets to each vice president due to the short time before the rally. Vice presidents have been advised to present themselves at reserved seat entrances for admission to the designated section.
A group of Memo rial M. E. church girls spent the weekend camping near A. G. Deputy’s home on the Wabash river. Chaperoned by Mrs. John Conrad the party included Ruth Stewart Grace Mowry Eunice Miller Helen Whitsitt Grace Strickland Els ie Conrad and Ethel Kister. They reported a wonderful time and plan to return next summer.
