County commissioners fix meeting sites for registration boards. Voters are urged to note their precinct registration place and register, with the list to be published in The Democrat on September 5.
Official announcement confirms the death of his Holiness and states the body rests at the Vatican. The notice was made several hours after his passing, with the time reported as Wednesday at noon New York time.
In Rome today the body of Pope Pius X lay in the chamber of his death as crowds gathered in St. Peter's Square and churches offered prayers. The official death announcement came at 1:20 a m local time, with New York time noon. Delays in such announcements follow Vatican precedent.
United Press Rome correspondent Henry Wood, an American, beat all rivals by at least eight hours with the Pope's death news. He released the report as soon as he could verify the death, while others waited for official word, drawing congratulatory messages from clients nationwide.

The Gibson County Republican convention met at the Air Dome in Princeton on Thursday afternoon to nominate candidates for November offices. Rev. Rome G. Sones gave the invocation as Fred R. Ewing conducted the proceedings. George H. Padgett named permanent chairman with A W Thompson as secretary during the rules and organization report.
County agent Roy R. Marshall postponed the Gibson county Orchard demonstrations planned for August 31 near Oakland City and September 1 in Montgomery township to mid September to avoid conflicting with the Gibson county Fair. Exact dates will be announced later.
Cilmen led by Padgett select officers as convention endorses protectionist platform denouncing Democrats from Wilson to minor offices. Nominations by acclamation include Henry Jones for commissioner first district John N. McCarty for second district and county councilmen at large Leahr Davis Miller.
