District Chairman L Vandeveer received a letter from John W Holtzman of the Democratic state speakers bureau announcing all Democratic candidates including Governor candidate Dr McCullough will attend a district rally in the city on Wednesday August 25 with Governor James M Cox speaking at the fair grounds. A special Southern train will run from English to Princeton the day of the rally connecting with a train from French Lick at Huntingburg. The Southern will advertise Cox’s visit along the line.
The Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Gibson Memorial Methodist church met this afternoon at Mrs. Sherman Coats home on South Gibson Street. Gus Steele of Omaha is visiting his brother C. A. Steele on North Gibson Street. Democrat classified ads 1c per word.

Washington report details the deaths of J Ford Thompson, 48, and Mary Sneeringer, 16, found shot in a Maryland wood near Emmitsburg after a police drag net sought Thompson on abduction charges. A waitress who vanished sparked the case. Thompson had courted her and spoke of education plans.
Boston August 13 The second get rich scheme in the city collapsed when M Brightwell president of the Old Colony Foreign Exchange company admitted the business was insolvent after a run on the firm followed the arrest of Charles Ponzi.
Paris reports indicate President Deschanel may resign due to France's anti Bolsheviki policy and a diplomatic rift with Britain. Premier Millerand could be elected president if resignation occurs. Britain and France seek to smooth Russia differences, with talks over Soviet peace terms to Poland and British counsel to reject them.
Paris reports France delivered a note to the United States in which Premier Miller and the government say Bolshevik rule does not reflect the Russian people and is contrary to all that is honorable. Leland Harrison in Paris received the communique on behalf of the U.S. in Illinois.

The annual Steel Reunion was held Thursday August 12 at Martin Steel's home near Oakland City. About one hundred guests attended a noon dinner. Miss Maude Stricklang of 502 South Race Street has returned home after visiting her uncle J. B. Strickland in Denver Colorado. She also visited Colorado Springs during the trip. Mrs Emma Strickland of Ft Branch accompanied Miss Strickland on the journey.
Benton Review reports new facts in the Lee W. Kelley disappearance and $70,000 shortage at the Raub Grain Elevator. Warren T. McCray, Republican governor candidate, linked to gambling debts with Sawyer Grain and McCardle Black. Kelley allegedly incurred debts while banned from bucket shops. Officials dispute payment while considering suits.
Charles Ponzi remained free on bail of 25 000 dollars amid federal and state fraud charges. Officials say thousands of investors' savings are tied up in his scheme, which claimed 40 000 customers. Ponzi said he was happy due to his wife’s loyalty.
Boston officials report about 49 000 investors backed by 15 to 20 million dollars placed with Charles Ponzi. He is charged with mail fraud after the Hanover Trust Company closing wiped out much of the funds. Ponzi posted bond, faces Aug 19 hearing, and a separate burglary charge results in a $10,000 bail.

Hazleton August 13 Special A double launching introduced by M Overton Decker replacing an old ferry with a larger vessel and a side tender. The ferry features raised apron ends as a safeguard for passengers and vehicles while the tender carries a strong motor to assist operation against current. Decker says the upgrades protect river crossings from past accidents at Hadeton and elsewhere.
After a late night conference the Shelby county board of review told the state tax board it would accept the horizontal property valuation increases as ordered. They said they reconsidered after studying the tax board's detailed order and had previously rejected it. Other counties were ordered to reconsider as well.
Indiana taxpayers paid 42 237.34 to run Governor Goodrichs State Board of Tax Commissioners in 1919. The report compares costs with 1916 under Governor Ralston, noting higher salaries, assistants, and investigators. Controversy centers on governance and alleged patronage within the 45member board.

Chairman Sanford Trippet and chairwomen Mrs John Hitch and Mrs Christine Cunningham will join Princeton committee members.
