Columns of armed women paraded through Warsaw announcing they would fight the Russians to death. Some carried revolvers others rifles and sabers as civilians join defenses near the city awaiting invaders.
The United States will refrain from taking sides in the differences between Great Britain and France over the Russian situation. The decision was announced by the State Department today.
London August 12 The King has postponed his planned Scotland tour because of the serious Russian situation. Premier Lloyd George and the King conferred last night, the Pall Mall Gazette reported.
At Springville near Laporte Indiana a fierce electrical storm struck a tent serving a Free Methodist camp meeting. Rev Henry Lentz presiding elder Belvidere Illinois and Rev L S Hutson Evansville Wisconsin were killed. Rev John Timber Jackson Michigan was badly burned. Timber warned the crowd as the storm approached and the tent was struck near the centerpole. Several others were knocked down but only lightly hurt.
Andrew Mc Clure is bound over to Gibson circuit court after a preliminary hearing before Squire Morton. He faces an assault and battery with intent to do bodily harm charge and posted a $1,000 bond. The alleged attack occurred when he struck Ralph Wheeler with a club at a church picnic near Francisco two weeks prior.
In Nashville on August 12 the Legislature defeated a second attempt to delay ratification of the federal woman suffrage amendment. A resolution to defer action until the 1921 regular session was tabled, marking another victory for suffrage supporters.

Mrs J B Miskell and Mrs Calpe neer traveled to Evansville yesterday due to the death of Ella Moore. Mr and Mrs John Elmendorf and son, Evansville, left Thursday.

The national executive committee in session considered the pairing as representatives from across the country gathered for formal notification amid crowds and a gala town scene.
Senator Harding will speak away from Marion for the first time during the Minnesota state fair in Minneapolis in early September. National Committeeman Taswell from Minneapolis arrived with a delegation to press the invitation, with the speech expected to cover agricultural issues.

Mr. and Mrs. Roman Spayde and daughter Dolores from Kokomo went to Washington to visit relatives before returning home. Mrs. Spencer will visit her son Charles in Terre Haute. Bonnie Mincey returns to Centerpoint Indiana after visiting relatives. Mrs. Westerfield and daughter Sarah Louise went to St. Louis to visit Logan Richardson. Mrs. Elbert Cunningham and daughter Catherine of Tulsa are visiting relatives. Robert Hyneman and Nellie Binkley with daughter Minnie left for Rock Creek to visit Edward Spafford. Nellie Westfall is sick in North Embree street. T. T. White of Foley arrived to visit father-in-law W. T. Roberts at Owensville. J. H. Guthrie and family went to Chicago to visit son Land Guthrie. Mrs. Charles Swarens of Crandall returned home from visiting in South Race street. T. T. White and W. T. Roberts met Mrs. White in Owensville. Howard Meyer and wife returned to Grand Rapids after eight weeks with daughter B. H. Koster.
In Evansville on August 12 the county auditor Willis Copeland claimed the Coliseum was rented to Republicans for October 30 and could not be rented to Democrats or Hoagland. Judge Gould later admitted a GOP speaker had not been engaged, saying the move was a political maneuver to block the Dems.
Mrs. Ella Moore died at Haydens Sanitarium Evansville on Wednesday at noon. She worked for Fowler Dick & Walker in Evansville. The remains will be brought to this city with no further arrangements made. Survived by two sons Olen of St Oden Illinois and Roscoe of Texas and one step daughter Mrs J B Miskell of this city.
The Woman's Home Missionary society of Gibson Street Memorial church will meet Friday afternoon at 2 30 with Mrs Sherman Coates in South Seminary street.
