President Calvin Coolidge met with heads of government branches in an informal morning cabinet session in his Washington suite. The gathering addressed urgent departmental issues as talks continued over Secretary George Christian’s resignation and Edwin Clark’s likely appointment as personal secretary.

Four men from Newburg Indiana escaped death when their auto was struck by a northbound traction car at the fair grounds crossing. William Wilson suffered six broken ribs and cuts, Eph Pruden broke a shoulder and received bruises, Perry Pruden had minor wounds, Ed Witmer escaped injury. All were hospitalized with Wilson and Pruden improving today.
