Wilbur Sutton editor of the Muncie Press reports a telegram from George BB Lockwood of The Press and The National Republican in Washington states he will not consider running for Indiana governor. The denial follows copies of an unauthorized article claiming his candidacy and a flood of messages from Indiana friends.
Public message from Washington officials reports President Wilson will not negotiate wage and mentional terms until workers resume. It calls officers and members to order, return to work immediately, and warns that continued strikes harm the labor movement and organization operations.
In Indianapolis sixty of six thousand striking shopmen resumed work today while most remain on strike. in Chicago more than 25 000 returned to work pending wage talks as railroad passenger train service stayed strained across the district.

Washington Aug 9 America mobilizes its secret service agents to pursue food hoarders. Orders from Washington direct operatives of the Bureau of Investigation with district attorneys nationwide to cooperate in the profiteering crackdown and open warehouses to curb high prices.
The department of justice announced hoarded food stocks will be seized and placed on the market. Attorney General Palmer expects hourly news of arrests from district attorneys amid a broad, multi-department effort to curb profiteering.
President Wilson moves to tour the United States to advocate the League of Nations. He may address the cost of living in speeches and plans discussions with representatives of capital and labor to address economic conditions and remedies before touring.
War Department announces sale of department held food starting August 18 with prices fixed for warehouses and parcel post transport. Distribution will be postal zone based and no direct consumer sales. Bacon 25 cents a pound beans 5 cents a pound flour six dollars per hundred pounds other items at corresponding figures, parcel post extra.

Judge Simon L. Vandeveer of the Gibson circuit court files appointments with County Clerk Harlen Kays selecting Dr. Robert A. Cushman and Attorney Sanford K. Trippet of Princeton to serve as trustees for the Gibson County Memorial Coliseum. They join three earlier appointees to determine location design and cost for the soldiers and sailors memorial in the county.
Mrs Martin Weber of San Francisco visited Princeton today as a local observer and guest, staying briefly to tour university sites and meet faculty members.
Employees from Sweeney Printing Company Ft Branch and friends drove to White River this afternoon for an outing. They brought well-filled baskets and a picnic supper will be served this evening.
Workmen led by William Kolb are repainting and cleaning the amphitheatre grounds to ready the site for the upcoming Great and Only event in a few weeks. The preparations aim to have the venue in tip-top shape for opening day.

Misses Pearl Woods and Ethel Skelton to Owensville to visit Aunt Flora Moser. Mesdames Andrew Weist Clara McMilign and George Black were guests of Mrs Minnie Sidelair at Pas toka.
The Princeton team will play the Jasper Reds at Jasper Sunday afternoon. Jasper tied Leogootee 4 to 4 after 15 innings last Sunday at Leogootee. Day has been released and Meiser will finish the season for Princeton. The locals depart on the Southern at 6:50 AM and return by Sao DP. ML.
