An attempted holdup occurred Saturday at 10 p m when a gunman accosted Mr and Mrs George Soller as they drove to their garage at 609 North Main Street West Spruce Street between Main and Hart Streets. Mrs Soller screamed drawing the attack to a halt and the assailant fled before police arrived.

Auto crash injures Whitman family near city
George Whitman and his two year old daughter Georgia suffered bruises when their car veered into a ditch and overturned near the railroad crossing late Sunday night. Four year old Gladys escaped injury as the top and fender were damaged and the windshield broken. the driver who crowded Whitman into the ditch did not stop.

Fishing for eight thousand dollars in White River
Evansville morning paper shows a cartoon of fishing along White River from Hazleton ferry to the Wabash and down the river. Rescuers Seek 28 Still Missing After Alaska Ship Disaster
Officials say 48 people are believed dead from the Blunt's red ship disaster aboard the steamship Alaska. Coast guard patrols found no new bodies as rescuers search for 28 missing passengers and crew from Portland to San Francisco. The vessel carried 131 passengers and a crew at the time of the incident.

Pleads Guilty to Speeding Across City Limits
Prof Harold Smith colored attorney alleged to exceed the speed limit while driving into the city from the south Friday night appeared Monday before Mayor Shubart and pleaded guilty to a speeding charge. He was given the usual fine of 35 and costs. The fine was stayed. Death of Lew B. Stinson Noted in Local Notice
Lew B. Stinson died Sunday at French Lick. The body was sent to Evansville for forwarding to his longtime home in Mt Verna for burial. Stinson was one of the area’s oldest road workers with about forty years on the road. He is survived by a widow.

Murdered Sherman Roundtree Buried At Lyles Station
The body of Sherman Roundtree, 23, colored, murdered in Bowling Green, Ky., was buried at Sand Hill cemetery this afternoon after a 2 PM funeral at Lyles Station. He was son of George Roundtree of Indianapolis and nephew of William H. Roundtree, survived by brother Elmer and sister Mary Ellen Madison. Police say Sam Cloyd of Bowling Green is charged with the shooting, with another man held for providing the weapon, amid a dispute over 25 cents for a drink of whisky.
