President Wilson appears before the joint session of Congress at four o clock presenting his arguments and plan to end the current cost of living crisis. He details measures to curb price rises and stabilize the economy during the session.
President Wilson asks Congress to extend food control to peace time, license interstate firms, regulate cold storage, control security issues, fund agencies, punish profiteers, and require price markings. He warns profits and hoarding worsen postwar tensions and urges rapid ratification of the peace treaty to restore stability.
Dr. Beresford files a state report listing Montgomery township pupil counts by grade totaling 953 in elementary and high school with Owensville as a one high school. It shows 37 teachers, expenses of 16090.25 for salaries and 27456.95 for operations, 1700 library volumes, 6 transport vehicles, and 2440.74 transportation spending.

The Second Division including the Fifth and Sixth Marines and the Ninth and Twenty-third Infantry will parade Fifth Avenue in New York this afternoon. Among the spectators is Princeton soldier Clarence Rumer, son of Charles F. Rumer, noted in the unit press story received after noon. The division, famed for its hard fighting and heavy casualties, is parading as a favor to Major General Leguend despite earlier reluctance.

A large crowd attended the weekly Princeton band concert Thursday evening in the Franklin school yard. The program featured both popular and classical music and was billed as the best of the year.
A car driven by Mrs. Carl Stith with her father N Finney and an oil worker passenger skidded near the Zimmerman home on the Mt Carmel road about 4 30 Thursday afternoon. The vehicle struck the bank, breaking the windshield and damaging fenders but all occupants escaped injury.
Irma Cecil, four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs August Fichter, was severely injured on State Street Thursday evening when her foot went into a bicycle wheel causing both riders to fall. The girl sustained a deep chin wound with flesh exposed and multiple foot and ankle injuries. She was resting today and considered to be as well as could be expected.
Ralph Kurtz son of Mrs J W Kurtz has returned from Indianapolis after being mustered out. He volunteered early and served in France on the front lines for the war duration. Herschel W Trippett formerly of Hazleton arrived from Burlesville Oklahoma for a visit with grandparents. He was discharged after 21 months with the regimental band of the 90th division, much time in France including St Mihiel and Argonne forest. He was slightly gassed before the armistice and served with Texas and Oklahoma troops, visiting Gibson county for a few days.
Four signal men at the C. and E. L station walked out over pay and condition demands, joining two inspectors and other locals in a regional rail stoppage that threatens service across lines. Dispatches report 900 L. and N. shopmen quitting at Evansville and a wider strike affecting Terre Haute miners and Indianapolis rail workers, risking many trains.
The Franklin College quartette visits Princeton for the first time at First Baptist Church tonight. The group, a top touring ensemble, performs classical and popular pieces with duets trios solos and readings. Admission is twenty five cents and the program starts at 815.
Admiral Hugh Rodman planned to deliver an address at a Coronado banquet but the speech was kept from delivery by Secretary Daniels. Rodman and Daniels offered no explanation and the event drew wide attention among western governors and guests of honor.
Striking railroad shopmen in Indianapolis will not return to work until their demands are met. F. Galoway, chairman of the strike committee for about 6,000 men, accused the president of failing to prevent the strike and urged the crowd to persist until goals are achieved.
President Wilson, in a White House letter to Director General Hines, says he is authorized to decide wage demands of railroad shop workers on their merits. He blames the strike and a breakdown of union authority for delaying action, stating the matter will stay at a standstill until workers return and recognize their leaders.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee moves to investigate the Mexican problem. It endorses a resolution granting power to probe killings of Americans, property destruction, and claims collection, with findings to be read before the Senate if adopted.

Congressmen rush to Washington to secure galleries and seats for President Wilsons address on the cost of living. The expected message may urge concrete proposals and possible re enactment of the Lever food control act to curb hoarders and profiteers.
Two armed men robbed the Morgan Jewelry Company store shortly after opening, forcing clerks to lie on the floor, then escaped with the display case containing jewelry valued at $100,000. Police suspected a waiting car outside.
Pay checks for Southern workers arrived by noon and will be issued this afternoon. Stores will stay open tonight as usual.
A run went out Thursday evening to the city’s north area while workers repaired the fire alarm system and wiring.
Arnold Henry, a clerk, filed assault and battery charges against Floyd I. Biggs, proprietor of Biggs drug store, after an altercation. Biggs was arraigned before Mayor Shubart in city court, pleaded not guilty, and a trial was set for next Wednesday night.
