River auto plunge loses $8100 in bank draft and cash
Fishermen along White River near the Knox county ferry recovered a wallet with an Indianapolis bank draft for 5800 dollars and 2300 in currency after Thomas Smith of Marion and a man named Henderson drove a car into the river at 12 30 am. The wallet lay on the seat and the satchel held poker chips. The men escaped, the car was damaged in the crash, and Henderson is said to live near Marion.

Veteran Civil War Soldier Reaches Ninety Years
Henry Subling aged native of Kessel near Moscow Russia, living four miles southeast of the city, celebrated his 90th birthday. He enlisted January 14 1862 in Company C First Missouri State Volunteer Infantry and served under General Rosecrans through fourteen major engagements. He was twice wounded and mustered out at Rolla in 1865.
