Hobart Russell aged about 22 uses 2 percent is fatally injured when a slate fall pinned him at the Princeton coal mine around 2 PM Monday. He died later at Methodist hospital after being taken there. Russell had come from Hosmer Pike county two weeks prior and lived with Floy Spralding. The body was moved to Radcliff morgue for burial and the funeral is expected Wednesday.
The Miverblig College Charrette troupe visits Franklin for a program at the First Presbyterian Church. The act is praised as among the best in the state with audiences across the country responsive to their entertainment. The troupe tours to support Franklin College and features Roye Kinnielk Arnold, tenors Roy Tan ter, Elerbert F L Plairsten, bass Thigh EE. Grahamn, and violinist Flow Dh Plotter.
The city school board elected new officers on Monday night. Thomas W. Cullen was reelected president. Charles S. Seal became treasurer. Harevey Milburn was chosen secretary. Milburn, a noted banker, had recently joined the board.
Music lovers in Urinceten can attend a mid summer festival Wednesday evening featuring Miss Ciatherine Roberts and her orchestra at St. Josephs Park. The program starts at 8 o’clock with a ball to follow, and the entertainment is highly anticipated amidst extensive preparations.
Miss Catherine Roberts leads her famous orchestra at St Joseph's Park Wednesday evening August 6 at 8 o'clock. After the concert a dance will follow with the same orchestra providing music. The committee promises a highly recommended entertainment for lovers of good music.

P H Cox of Vincennes purchased the John Spence residence on south Main Street, former Lamfeston property, and plans to move his family to Princeton soon. He will join the White Lumber Company. Princeton welcomes Mr. Cox and family as new citizens.
Westerfield grocery on west Pinckney street was entered Sunday night for the third or fourth time this winter. Thieves took several pounds of butter two sacks of thorndside of breon and other merchandise. The Kendle home west of Princeton was entered Sunday with war stamps a revolver money and other items missing. Doors were broken to gain entry in both cases.
Lewis Adler, son of Mr and Mrs George Adler, returns from overseas with a French war bride. They visit Gibson County relatives before moving to Montana where Adler owns land. The bride, a native of Nord province, has lived much of her life in Paris and is well educated. This is the second French war bride in Gibson County.
Report indicates no information has reached the Princeton post office about disposition of army stores via blanks to be distributed. Announcement through the press has prompted many inquiries, but officials note time is needed to prepare blanks and distribute through thousands of offices.
State Board of Tax Commissioners representative Mr Tillman visited Princeton and reviewed county taxes with assessors and the board of review. An increase of about 5 percent is likely unless objections are presented. A hearing is set for Saturday in County Auditor Armstrong's office for taxpayers to speak.

Princeton market notes show hot clear weather and moderate shipments with slow demand. Prices hold with salmon tints and best quality at 2.25 dollars, ripes at 1.25, most shipments rolled unsold with some consigned in standard 45s.
A Canadian army officer brought Mrs. Riley Pritchett of Vincennes a 15000 dollar check for her brother Bert Lyons who died in the Somme drive of 1918. He also had authority to file a 2000 dollar back pay claim. The family, of small means, awaits further contact as the officer pursues the claim. The officer then left for Knox county.
Virgi W. Compton was elected to fill a police vacancy left since Everett Barnes resigned months ago. He previously ran a barber shop on North Main Street and will begin his new duties tonight. An ordinance establishing a grade on Word Street between State and Chestnut Streets was adopted, and various payrolls and claims were approved.
