The H. J. Heinz factory on Main Street began operation yesterday with a workforce ready to handle the season. County tomato acreage is about 1500 acres with a large crop expected, and the plant will hire additional workers as needed.
Chicago, Aug 3. Liquors valued at 2 100 000 have been confiscated since the Eighteenth amendment took effect. A W Dalrymple prohibition enforcement chief announced today. During the period liquor valued at 445 000 was stolen in 57 thefts, most from warehouses.
Nearly all mines in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky were operating again today, the mines operators association announced. The move ends a stoppage that affected the region, with workers resuming shifts across multiple mines and districts.
Terre Haute Indiana reports indicate central competitive coal field should be normal by week’s end. Mines were operating at 50 percent capacity while Ed Stewart, president of District 11, anticipated no trouble.
Springfield Aug 3. Illinois coal mine production will return to normal no later than Friday according to Harry Bishwick vice president of the state miners union.

Four bandits robbed the Commercial Savings Bank in Moline Illinois during banking hours today escaping with 15000 dollars in a big green automobile. Six bank employees and six customers were locked in the directors room during the daylight holdup. In a gunfight one bandit was wounded in the side.
Democrats of the First district plan Southern Indiana’s largest political rally in Princeton for the third or fourth week of this month with a national prominence speaker. Evansville delegates approve the plan. committees form across districts and counties for a parade bands booths and big crowds.
Chicago reports William Bross Lloyd and nineteen Communist Labor party members found guilty of conspiracy to overthrow the U S government. Sentences ranged from one to five years. Lloyd faced 2000 dollar fine. Trial followed a January Chicago raid linked to nationwide anti radical actions.

Lieut Donald Nolan director of finances for the central department of the U S Army vanished after reporting to Washington on government business. His office safe showed sums deposited ranging from 25000 to 100000 during a month. Experts opened the gate but found no money.

Messrs Taylor Burton Walton and Woods of the firm conducting the new addition for sale in Princeton spoke at the Rotary noon lunch in Hotel Kidd. Dr Dorsey addressed Rotary and Heinz manager Koster reported the plant received the first tomato consignment and began pulp production Tuesday.
