San Francisco August 2 President Harding shows steady but cautious progress as Dr Sawyer reports normal temperature pulse and improving lung condition. Physicians caution of ups and downs during a lengthy recovery with vigilant watching by Secret Service and medical staff.
Frank Appleton of East Mt Carmel will be returned to Mt Carmel to face robbery charges against Ebner Poole. He escaped from Wabash county jail by sawing bars, was recaptured, and now surrenders to Sheriff Storckman for trial on assault and theft tied to a drunken state and the $80 robbery. Appleton has ties to a river boat raid and prior possession of a still.
The Barrett well on the Herman Barrett farm two miles southwest of Francisco is one of Gibson county’s best. Oil men say natural flow yields sixty barrels per day, with pumping on after a direct setup. The Francisco territory extends southward, promising further development. owned by Arthur Mauck Joe Young and others.

They journeyed through Wyandotte Cave with some boys re touring the big cavern today. With four days left in camp the group enjoys the outing and good meals from cooks Anderson and Mealonald.

Harry S. Tindall a 29 year old man was fatally shot in the Mercer hotel Missouri yesterday afternoon. Miss Edna Marsh 19 says he promised to marry her and take her to St Joseph but he shot himself while cleaning his pistol. Marsh was in an adjoining bathroom and found him wounded. Tindall claimed Mitchell Indiana as home and left personal notes with Forsythe address and a penciled wife name.
Weather outlook for Indiana indicates generally fair and cooler conditions tonight after local thundershowers in the extreme south. Friday expected to be fair with moderate temperatures, Wednesday highs near 92 and lows around 73. Sunset Thursday at 6 59 p.m. Sunrise Friday at 4 38 a.m.
Glenn Van Auken, a member of the Indiana Public Service Commission since 1919, resigned to Gov. McCray on July 1 and urged acceptance. The governor delayed acceptance, hoping the commissioner would recant while cases like Indiana Bell rate and Indiana Water Company await action. Van Auken served as presiding commissioner in the telephone case, with no public reason given for retirement.
John Ferris aged 30 of Oakland City was severely hurt Wednesday afternoon on the Big Four switch project in Oakland while unloading rails. A rail fell and crushed his legs, breaking the right above the ankle and badly mashing the left near the ankle. He was rushed to the hospital and was reported as improving. Luther Bruner, badly injured in an earlier automobile crash, shows slow but steady recovery at Methodist Hospital.
Princeton Kiwanis and spouses attended the inter city meeting in Vincennes on Wednesday with about fifty from the city. Highlights included a clock prize in the yell contest and prizes at bridge. Hoosier Male Quartette with Miss Nellie Young performed several numbers.

Fire at the Deep Vein mine between West Terre Haute and St. Marys of the Woods caused extensive damage to the tipple and injured Bruce Jeffers, the top boss, who fell while fighting the blaze. Fire crews faced water shortages as the mine had been idle for about a month.
Senator Robert M. LaFollette sails from New York aboard the George Washington with four colleagues to attend the inter-allied parliamentary union meeting in Geneva. He says the tour will be a visit but will include study of conditions in Europe for his constituents.
James A. Mason of east Princeton was arrested Wednesday noon on a provocation charge filed by his wife. He was released on bond and a trial was set for Friday night in city court.
