The 24th Gibson County Teachers Institute will run August 20 to 24 at the high school in this city. Superintendent-elect Le land S Cunningham helped arrange the program. Instructors include Prof. Frank E. Brown of South Dakota State College, Prof. W E Lugenbeel of Muncie National Institute, and Prof. James W Stott of Princeton schools. Trustee day falls on August 22 with all trustees urged to attend.
Notice warns that all stray dogs found without muzzles after August 1 will be killed. Many killed likely had no owners. Owners urged to muzzle or pen dogs immediately and ensure ample water during hot weather.

A Princeton conference of trustees and doctors agreed to open the Princeton Sanatorium as a branch of the Indiana State Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The 265 bed facility will be self sustaining with a $20,000 fundraising drive, while offering equal care to all patients regardless of church affiliation. Dr. A H Rhodes chairs the campaign to raise the remaining funds.
Entries are invited for the Gibson County fair race meet of 1917 with $3000 in purses. The schedule shows four trots, four paces, five running races including a one mile derby, with daily events from September 5 to 8. Local boosters promise train service, free attractions, and ample amenities to draw crowds from neighboring cities.
The list shows 95 registered men called to report next Tuesday August 7 for examinations by the local board. A second group of 95 will be called Wednesday August 8 with full names to appear in The Democrat tomorrow.
