Ex Minister Prentice Dies Former BC Finance Minister and Ranching Executive
J D Prentice ex minister of finance of British Columbia and manager of the Western Canadian Ranching Company is dead at Lillooet. Born 1861 in Lanarkshire he studied at Fettus College Edinburgh and served in the BC legislature before party government. He was provincial secretary in 1900 and minister of finance in 1901, later retiring from politics. He led large ranching investments and spent much time in Lillooet with annual Victoria visits. Philip Chesley the Skeena Valley prospector also noted as traveling south by the Princess Mary.
