Greatest Scenic Route On The Continent Is G T P

F M Rugg Northwestern Passenger Agent of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railway praises the G T P as the finest scenic route on the continent during a Prince Rupert visit. He and W J Quinlan of the Grand Trunk system toured western BC, lauding the Skeena Valley and Bulkley Canyon over Jasper Park and Mount Robson. Representatives of railway employees from Winnipeg discussed union matters with local members.

Presbyterian Young People Organize Society

At a meeting in the Presbyterian Church Hall the congregation young people formed a society for the season. Officers elected were President D. C. McRae Vice President Miss L Scott Secretary M Cor kill Treasurer W S Williams Executive Miss McLenaghen Miss Stewart Mrs Grant and Mr L Norman. A musical and literary program followed and meetings are set for Wednesdays at 8 o'clock.

Grand Concert in Aid of Red Cross at Westholme

A Trafalgar Day benefit concert will be held at the Westholme Theatre organized by the I O D B I members with the generous loan of the building by M Albert. The program includes a Westholme Orchestra patriotic selections solos by Miss Barnsley and Mrs Jarvis McLeod a 4 reel film feature and a H M S Pinafore selection.

Halibut Brings Record Price as Two Carloads Sold

Two carloads of halibut fetched the highest price yet, 6 1/2 cents per pound, bought by Mr. Roberts for the San Juan Company. The Tordensfold carried 36,000 pounds and the Corona 8,000, with two schooners in port. The Hydrographic steamer Liloot, under Lieut Commander Musgrave, winds down survey work for the season.

Russian Volunteer fleet eyes Vladivostok to Seattle service

Reports from Seattle say the Russian Volunteer fleet plans a new trans Pacific service between Vladivostok and North Pacific coast ports including Seattle. Fred Watson former Great Northern agent notes Vladivostok harbor and railroad improve rapidly and new vessels may be added. Preliminary arrangements are under way and service could start soon.

Trafalgar honored as Nelson hailed across empire today

Across the empire ceremonies mark Nelson's Trafalgar triumph with praise for his genius and patriotism. The piece recalls his battles at the Nile Copenhagen and Trafalgar and notes his death after a decisive victory securing British naval dominance. Oil prospects on Graham Island appear promising says Stewart after drilling shows growing gas and potential oil.

Red Cross Benefit Concert And Dance Tonight

An aid event for the Red Cross is held this evening at St Andrew's Hall with music directed by Mr. Stillwell. A dance follows at 7 PM, offering first class music to support Red Cross work.

There will be no Red Cross Sale of Work this week. Those who intended giving are asked to bring provisions to the dance in St Andrew's Hall this evening. Contributions in provisions will be welcome for the Red Cross cause.
