London reports 17 air combats with only one British loss. British airships damaged railway lines in fifteen places and wrecked five to six trains. Locomotives and sheds were destroyed or set ablaze as bombs targeted rails stations to hinder German reinforcements and supply runs.
In the House of Commons Sir Edward Grey declared that Bulgarian mobilization would not deter Britain. He pledged full allied support to the Balkans in concert with Allies, without reserve or qualification.
On the Serbian Bulgarian frontier there were several clashes at Trichouke. Bulgarian patrols attacked Serbian sentinels and Bulgarian troops crossed into Serbia for hours. Bulgarians are digging trenches and setting barb wire defences along the line.
Vancouver consulting engineers Du Cane Dutcher and Fergusson call for 378 men from British Columbia and 1 600 from Canada to construct about 400 miles of railway in northern Russia. Missions include paid transport, board, lodging, medical care, and clothing on ship, with a six month contract. Only British subjects 21 to 45 who pass medicals and hold passports may apply.
The wharf at the Kyuquot whaling station on Vancouver Island collapsed Sunday afternoon, spilling 300 tons of guano and 450 barrels of oil into the water. Recovery is hindered by deep water, and the loss is estimated at seven to eight thousand dollars with no insurance.
The remains of Mrs J Babington will be taken south to Vancouver for interment. Services will be held at Hayner's chapel at 2 30 this afternoon.

Captain Joseph Bernier, aboard the Guide, has reached Quebec after a voyage to a new Arctic land later to be named a Canadian possession. The expedition reported one casualty, a German tourist lost while photographing the islands. The journey marks Bernier’s fiftieth year at sea.
At eighty six, Collingwood Schreiber consults for the Government railways as he leaves Ottawa on his yearly inspection of the National Transcontinental and Grand Trunk Pacific lines. He travels with L. K. Jones, assistant deputy minister of railways and canals, and expects to reach his destination soon.

Canadian woolen mills win a one million dollar contract with the Italian Government for 100000 blankets and at least 600000 woolen shirts. The Italian Commission in London arranged the deal with Canadian reps assuring capacity and quality while the Department of Trade and Commerce backs inspection. Deliveries begin, goods sent via New York to Genoa.
