Electric stoves price cut in Prince Rupert council move

Prince Rupert council adopts a preferential electric stove rate to cut running costs. For the first 150 kilowatts the rate is 3.50 cents per kilowatt, then 3 cents, then 2.50 cents, tapering to 1 cent over 300 kilowatts. Heating water and alley cooking could fall to $6 to $7 monthly. street lighting rates also revised.

John McInnes, Socialist candidate for Prince George, attended a Bowser led gathering and blasted the Government land policy. He warned of facing a Cabinet Minister in the next election and asked if the district would suffer in its vote if he won. Premier Bowser replied he would watch the province's needs.
