Cadet Corps Praised by Inspecting Officer in City

Major W H Belson inspector of cadets of this district visited for annual inspection. George Leek leads the local corps which has shown proficiency. About 21 cadets at Government Place were drilled by R Fisher acting Cadet Captain. Canon Rix and the inspector praised the corps and its discipline.

Noted Russian official to visit Prince Rupert

A Russian government official, His Excellency Gregory Vilenkin, special representative of the Russian Minister of Finance, is due to arrive in the west over the Transcontinental. The G T P has offered facilities in Prince Rupert for handling munitions and other war material bound for Russian ports in Siberia, with drydock cranes and loading capabilities available for expeditions.

Ocean Falls Pulp Mills to Reopen After Negotiations

Negotiations by W Pierce Johnson of Fleishhacker Johnson Co. aim to resume operations at the Ocean Falls pulp plant. The facility, long closed, is expected to reopen on a larger scale following the talks with the Ocean Falls Company.

Trade unionist Trotter studies union matters in Prince Rupert

W R Trotter of Vancouver arrives in Prince Rupert as a representative of the Trades and Labor Congress of Canada. He meets the local Trades and Labor Council to discuss union issues while attorney Oscar Sutro aids the English bondholders in reorganizing Fleishhacker and Johnson interests amid pulp and paper industry shifts caused by European war and Panama Canal developments.

HELP LADIES IN RED CROSS WORK IN PRINCE RUPERT

The ladies of Prince Rupert are urged to contribute to the Red Cross sale of house cooking needs in the Board of Trade rooms Wallery on Friday. Any person may send in a cake pie loaf of bread or batch of buns to help the funds. Mesdames Besner and Dawson will be in charge from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with Dr C H Gilbert of Stanford University in the city.

Remains of Neil McLeod Taken South for Interment

Neil J. McLeod died in this city on Tuesday evening and his remains were shipped to Seattle for burial aboard the steamship Prince Rupert. Funeral services, held in Hayner's Chapel under Masonic auspices, drew many floral tributes from family, churches, lodges, and friends including Mrs. McLeod, First Baptist Church, Young Tsimpsean Lodges, and the Nursing Staff.
