London reports put civilian death toll from the Soras quake at 28 000 to 25 000 with hundreds wounded. King Victor Emmanuel visited Avessano to view ruins and rescue work as an Eagles lodge installs new officers and plans a February 11 ball.
Yesterday's municipal vote drew about 700 ballots with no mayoral race. Thirteen aldermanic candidates were whittled to eight winners as the field for school trustees was also decided.
