London February 11 A reconciliation appears to have formed between Lord Northcliffe owner of the London Times and the Government fueling talk he may be offered a place in the British cabinet. The report follows his previous harsh war criticisms and signals a shift in status.
London reports Sir J Rivers Wilson former President of the Grand Trunk Railway died in London at the age shown in the dispatch. The Besian Legation denies peace proposals from Germany to Belgium as baseless rumors.

The Red Cross Society realized 44.35 from a home cooking sale held yesterday in their rooms on Third Avenue. The sale was run by Mrs. W. Manson and Mrs. G. Arnold who thank friends for their many generous donations of cooking. N. J. Alder of Victoria is visiting Prince Rupert on business related to his local property holdings.
Washington reports the Appam, seized at Hampton Roads by a German prize crew, will likely be kept in American waters indefinitely under the Prussian American treaty. Berlin announces a policy that all merchant vessels will be treated as warships going forward.

G. T. P. will establish a direct steamship connection with Alaska this season. G. A. Mc Nicholl, head of the coast traffic department, confirms the plan though details are not yet finalized. The move aims to serve company interests and benefit Prince Rupert, with overall summer travel expected to be heavy and transportation firms competing for the trade.

A grippe illness interrupted plans for a public meeting after the tour.
