Transfer of Dominion Express Agency to 623 Second Avenue

The Prince Rupert Agency of the Dominion Express Company is transferred to L. Monroe. The agency will operate from the office at 623 Second Avenue next to Westholme Theatre.

Red Cross sale of home cooking for prisoners of war

A Red Cross fundraiser for prisoners of war is set for Friday in a vacant store beside the Bank of Montreal. Mrs. G. A. Wood land and Mrs. Henning will run the sale. A drawing by Mr. J. Venables of G. W. Nickerson Co offers 250 prizes. Tickets cost ten cents and a sack of flour is also ten cents. No waiting. winners announced.

Paris reports British and French forces pressing toward Peronne and Bapaume along the Somme front. French artillery rains fire into Peronne causing destruction and fire, while allies push German trenches and force retreat along the line.

Russian forces push toward Lemberg across Bukowina

Petrograd reports the Russian army advancing toward Lemberg from Bukowina has ruptured the Austro German line near Stanislau and Tysmieneca has fallen. The Korepice River is crossed and several key railway positions toward Lemberg are occupied. Stanislau lies between Czernowta and Lemberg. Just Jim to be shown at the Weatherine Theatre tonight.

Stevens Shines At Lively Empress Theatre Political Meet

In a spirited Empress Theatre gathering Hon. William Manson and H H Stevens M P of Vancouver faced Liberal interruptions but Stevens held firm and won applause. W E Fisher presided and Conservative Stevens dominated on land policy shipbuilding and soldiers votes, with Manson also addressing. The event framed a regional contest between Stevens and Pattullo amid war and policy debate.

Fish Fleet Brings 70000 Pounds Halibut to Port

About 70000 pounds of halibut were landed yesterday with the Canadian Fish & Cold Storage Company buying most of the catch. Boats listed include Dolphin 14000, Volunteer LH060, Mayflower 7000, Exhibit 19000, and Agnes B 18000.
