Verdun Battles Rage as German Offensives Press On

Canadians' Heroic Action on the London Front

London April 10 The Canadian troops endured the fiercest fighting on the British front since Ypres. Germans exploded mines at St Eloi and tried a rush, but Canadians countered to seize seven shell craters and forced a group surrender. After a week of constant shelling the Germans made three assaults but suffered heavy losses. Prisoners had been without food for four days.

Steel Rails Advance Expected In Trade Circles

Historic steel trade development could push rail prices up by about five dollars per ton from the long standing base of twenty eight dollars. Judge Elbert H.
